چکیده

Napier and Das Gupta (1935) found that in normal Indians in Calcutta (figure 2) the mean acidity level was distinctly higher than thatshown in the textbooks, and that that ol socalled 'normal' tea garden coolies (figure a) though not so high was nevertheless higher than the normal European standard. Apperly (1936) claimed that in Australia he had found that the gastric acidity varied according to the distance from the equator, and that it was also less in the summer than in winter. He further suggested that it was always low in anaemia. This is entirely contrary to our, and other workers', experience. Rao (1937) carried out 100 gastric analyses on normal Indian males in Southern India and

Gastric Acidity in Chronic Ulcerative Colitis

Chronic ulcerative colitis frequently occurs amongst Indians and Europeans living in India and a number of patients with this condition are admitted every year to the Carmichael Hospital for Tropical Diseases. Many of these present a symptom-complex pointing to gastric trouble. In 100 such patients in whom the diagnosis was made after a barium meal, sigmoidoscopy, examination of stool, gastric ...

Evaluation of Antiulcer Activity of Whole Plant Extract of Malvastrum tricuspidatum in Experimental Animals

Malvastrum tricuspidatum is recommended in Ayurveda and Folklore Medicine for the management of gastric ulcers. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to investigate the antiulcer effect of whole plant extract of Malvastrum tricuspidatum (MTE) on ethanol (EtOH)-induced, aspirin (ASP)-induced, cold-restraint-stress (CRU) and pylorus--ligation(PL)-induced gastric ulcer models in rats. Aqueo...

Exploring the physiologic role of human gastroesophageal reflux by analyzing time‐series data from 24‐h gastric and esophageal pH recordings

Our previous finding of a fractal pattern for gastric pH and esophageal pH plus the statistical association of sequential pH values for up to 2 h led to our hypothesis that the fractal pattern encodes information regarding gastric acidity and that depending on the value of gastric acidity, the esophagus can signal the stomach to alter gastric acidity by influencing gastric secretion of acid or ...

Gastric Motility and the Volume of Gastric Secretion in Man.

In a previous paper (1) we discussed the relation of degree of gastric acidity of people without organic disease of the stomach to physical fitness, age, and other factors. It was shown that acidity tends to decrease with advancing years and that people in poor general physical condition, on the whole, have a less acid stomach juice than those who are fit. The present report deals with a simila...

Potentiometric Determination of Acidity Constants of Some Synthesized Organic Compounds in Organic-Water Media

The acidity constants of some synthesized protonated pyrazolo quinazoline compounds were determined potentiometrically at ionic strength of 0.1 M in DMF: water (60:40 v/v) system at different temperatures (298.15 K to 318.15 K). The pKa values have been found to increase with increasing electron-donating nature of substitutions. Some thermodynamics parameters such as enthalpy (ΔH°), Gibb’s free...
